Hugh McIlfatrick
Hugh McIlfatrick was born in Ballymoney, County Antrim in 1956. A self taught painter, he started painting as a child, specialising in figurative and landscape, he draws his inspiration from the scenery around him particularly the Donegal area.
Hugh was educated at Dalriada School and from here he eventually set off for England and a career on the stage. However, the dramatic dream seemed to fade and his next role was as a teacher of Drama and English at Portora Royal School, Enniskillen.
Hugh has been involved in many exhibitions including Mullan Gallery, Belfast and Bank of Ireland exhibition at the Waterfront in Belfast. Hugh's first one man show at the Barbara Stanley Gallery, London opened many doors across the U.K. after its success. He was runner up in the Bass Irish Arts Award in 2003. |
