Maurice Orr
Maurice studied art at Ballymena Boy's Secondary Intermediate School. He studied 3D design at the College of Art and Design, Belfast and graphic design at Rupert Stanley College.
Maurice works in oils and has always been fascinated by skies on the landscape.
His paintings are about atmosphere; the viewer is invited to look at the work to get an impact of the view, rather than the minutia of the detail. He was taught to paint the shadows, to block in the shapes and capture the feeling of the subject.
In June 2002 he was offered a bursary from The Arts and Disability Forum, to paint in Canada, to continue his exploration of sky and landform on Atmosphere.
In February 2003 Maurice Successfully Applied for the "Support for the Individual Artist Programme - International Residency" in Canada, to travel back to Banff in January 2004, to continue painting as a logical progression from late summer/early autumn works.
