Desmond Murie
Born in Dublin in the Late 40's Des is well versed with the Yeats, MacGonnigles and Kernoffs of his time.
His style is more an impression of what he sees rather than the actual scene. He say's "impressionism allows me to add or subtract as a scene should dictate. I veered away from exactitude to a more expressive and evocative way of applying paint. I tend to let my paintings show more the feeling of the atmosphere, the excitements and apprehension of the people and the animals rather than a mundane scene which would be captured in a photograph".
Desmond likes to paint "en pleu air", thus capturing the spontaneity of the moment. He has a particular love of painting charging horses and enjoys the electric feeling of the horses and mounts jumping over fences or running down the straight.
He has paintings in private collections in the US, England and at home.
