Raymond Cochrane
Raymond Cochrane is an Artist whose reputation is now well established in Northern Ireland, his work being in great demand province wide. He has sketched and painted all over Ireland but especially likes the atmosphere of Donegal, the West of Ireland and the local Glens of Antrim.

Born in Ballymena, County Antrim, Northern Ireland in 1937, he moved at an early age to Cullybackey village on the outskirts of Ballymena, the ancestral home of United States President Arthur.

Throughout his school years art was his main interest, developing from initial drawing and wood engraving in his primary years to landscapes and design studies at the local college.

After leaving school he held a number of interesting appointments in the Irish Linen Industry culminating in textile design work. Mostly self taught, apart from occasional tuition from other professional artists, Raymond decided to become a professional himself in 1975.

He met with immediate success, as his paintings depicted the rural "Irish" way of life, with particular emphasis on the people and countryside of the Glens of Antrim. The increasing demand for his work has not increased his output, and he still works to attain the highest level in his landscape paintings.

Raymond's distinctive style, subtle use of colours and attention to detail makes his work very attractive to both local people and visitors from all over the world, particularly in the U.S.A., Canada and Australia.
