Alan Beers
Alan is a self taught Artist, he was born in Northern Ireland but lived in Oxfordshire for 27 years, returning to his roots in 1994.
He owes his inspiration to Seago, Ken Howard and Stanhope Forbes.
Alan believes that the making of a painting is above all else personal. They necessarily reflect the artist himself. They say something about his mind and vision and view of life. His pictures are about a belief and passion for certain things, certain places. Very often they are the "unspectacular, the ordinary". Like Seago or Forbes he returns to explore a subject again and again. The things which take his attention are undoubtedly beautiful yet somehow as they are arranged together (particularly in the still lives) they radiate more than beauty, they give a feeling of the celebration of beauty.
It should be clear to the viewer that the subjects are believed in loved and held dear.
