Alex McKenna
Alex McKenna was born in Balbriggan, Co. Dublin. He was educated in University College, Dublin where he received both his Bachelor of Art and H. Dip Ed. He describes himself as a self taught painter.

He is described by Simon Coleman, from the RHA, as "a very fine prolific artist who has laboured continuously in the art world for the last 25 years. Although a traditionalist influenced by the west of Ireland, and now a native Gaelic speaker, he is forever widening the peripheries of Irish landscapes painting. His powerful angular work on exhibition not only show the ruggedness of the landscape and its inhabitants but contain that mysterious quality which seems to draw people of all creeds to this remote piece of land on the western seaboard in search of some kind of spiritual renewal.
