Since its beginnings in 1976 it has expanded into a high quality bespoke and wholesale picture framing company with the largest range of picture frame products available in Northern Ireland, complimented by The Braid Gallery, carrying a wide selection of artists. The company was founded by Geoff Elkin. A qualified mechanical engineer, Geoff initially took up picture framing as a hobby. However, due to growing demand he decided to become a full time picture framer in 1982. The business was initially run from a purpose built extension at his home but, as the company expanded into wholesaling mouldings in 1986, greater space was required. In 1992 the company relocated to its current Railway Street premises, which were expanded through a series of extensions to give the 7000 ft² space required to house the wide variety of services the company now provides to its extensive customer base. As exclusive wholesalers in Northern Ireland for Arqadia, G&A Frames stock and sell everything a picture framer could need, including the complete range of Arqadia mouldings and various types of board from mount board to backing board as well as glass and all the other sundries required for framing. Complimenting G&A Frames is a large art gallery operating under the name "The Braid Gallery", which contains the work of many local, national and indeed international artists.
